Called in with a loose bottom bracket whilst 200 miles into the pennine cycleway. With no notice John sorted it in less than 20 mins despite it being a mid drive motor with some unusual locking rings. Really appreciate the excellent customer service and workmanship. It's what I call a proper bikeshop, run by someone with all the kit and knowledge to match. Thank you.

We stopped off here when my ebike developed a fault with the chain being thrown off. Jon sorted the simple problem and within 15 mins and we were on our way again. No charge, so left him a bottle of Leffe. What great service.

After snapping my gear cable a few miles north of Appleby a kind gent directed us to Helmwind where Jon sorted everything out for us, let us dry off from the heavy rain, fed us biscuits and hot drinks. Got back on the road and completed our ride to Cumwhitton (in much more heavy rain). Huge thanks from Tom and Ste.

We arrived at HelmWind cycles totally unannounced with a sticky brake problem. The front TRP Hy/Rd mechanical interface hydraulic disc brake wasn’t releasing the new pads I had put on – the bike would move but I wasn’t going to get up Great Dun fell with resistance. We had read the good reviews and hoped for the best. Our luck was in – Jon is not a man who will leave you with a problem. As it turned out it wasn’t reparable without putting in a lot of time and I was ready to go up the hill so he fitted a new mechanical unit – which I prefer – less to go wrong. He so willingly gave up his time to making sure we could get on the road. Thanks to Jon we got up the fell and down the other side on a wonderfully clear and sunny afternoon. I can’t thank him enough.

I was really lucky to find Helmwind cycles today. I had a proper mechanical (snapped my crank) in the middle of a cycling tour and the team at Helmwind couldn't have been better. They made me a coffee and got me back on the road within an hour! Excellent service, very reasonable pricing... I couldn't recommend them enough!

I called John when I was in dire straits whilst cycling the Pennine, and he and his partner Jean came into the workshop especially to repair my bike, even though he was on his way to take a tour group to cycle through the Pyrenees. My bike is now running beautifully. They both went well out of their way to help, and they could easily have said no. Five stars from me.
